Effort test running + biomechanical running analysis

It is not only top athletes who need a well-founded training schedule. You can also achieve your goal more easily and efficiently as a recreational athlete. We can chart your condition with this running test.

All it takes is five clear steps to uncover your strengths and explain where there is still room for improvement:

1. Sports medical questionnaire

Prior to your fitness test, you need to fill out this validated sports medical questionnaire and bring along the result. Depending on the result (green, orange or red) an advice will be given to do a sports medical examination.

- Green light: a sports medical examination is not necessary, your fitness test can continue - Orange / red light: a sports medical examination is mandatory before your fitness test can continue, via an SKA sports doctor or at Energy Lab

Please note: if you have not yet completed the questionnaire at the time of your fitness test, you can fill it in on the spot, but your fitness test will NOT be able to take place when the result is orange or red.

2. Intake interview

Using the intake interview as a foundation, we get a good picture of your sporting history. Past performance, injuries, goals and available training time are discussed here. All this will be used to get as complete a picture as possible of your objectives and expectations before the test starts.

3. The fitness test

The fitness test consists of an ascending effort on the treadmill. We will measure and analyse various parameters during the test. Heart rate and lactic acid values help us to measure your fitness and decide upon your optimal training zones. A cool down and refreshing shower will follow your test.

4. Biomechanical running analysis

For the biomechanical running analysis, we use RunEasi, a new technology to analyze your running movements in an efficient and scientifically substantiated way. This technology was recently developed at KU Leuven. Your strengths and weaknesses are determined on the basis of the analysis; as well as the (possible) left/right asymmetry. How do you move? And how can you prevent injuries by adjusting your running posture? Our coaches provide you with tailor-made exercises to work on your weaker points at home.

5. Scientific analysis

The quality of your basic condition and intensity endurance, your resistance and past training activities determine the types of training most suitable for you. Your strengths and weaknesses are evaluated in relation to your reference group and translated into practical solutions.

Energy Lab only works with qualified sports scientists who have extensive experience in sports so an up-to-date scientific and qualitative analysis is guaranteed.

6. Training schedule

After an invigorating shower, time is taken to go through your test report and the training advice. In addition, you will receive a detailed and customised training schedule for 12 weeks that also takes into account your objectives and available time. You are now ready to achieve your sporting goals.
